Blogidays- My Imperfections Tag!

Hello!

Christmas is over!  I am also starting to experience Post-December Depression, because December is FLYING!

Today, I want to do a tag that I have thought about doing for awhile now. The Perfect Imperfections tag. I watch alot of these on Youtube, and I find them really interesting. For one thing, they really humanize people we look up to as "perfect". It is also interesting to see things that people see in themselves as imperfections, because while they're worried about them, most people don't even notice!

So, in this tag, you are supposed to mention 3 things you like about yourself/body, and 3 you're not so fond of.  I think I will start with the negatives:

1. I have a tooth that is slightly behind another. Up close, it is hardly noticeable, but I have had photos where it appears as though I am missing a tooth! It makes me really self conscious to smile and have photos taken.

2. My legs. I surely don't have the worst legs in the world, but my body isn't totally proportional. I am 5'5", so I am not too short, but my torso is abnormally long, and my legs are quite short. Fun fact, I was once told that my leg length is the same as people in the 4'11"- 5'1" height range! Aside from being too short, I think they are too thick. When I was younger, I wanted desperately to be thin, and exercised non-stop. As a result, my legs got really really musclular . I guess I would like to have longer, slimmer legs.

3. This isn't a physical thing, but I can't stand my over sensitivity! I am a very extremely sensitive person. I take almost everything to heart, and I get my feelings hurt very easily. I find it quite annoying as it interferes with my relationships with others and my daily life.

So, good things for last, here are my 3 that I rather enjoy about myself! :

1. I have very full, long, dark, eyelashes! I have never needed fakes, and most mascaras work well for me!

2. I have a very feminine body. I have pretty wide hips, but proportional breasts and a very slim waist. I feel like Betty Boop sometimes :p

3. Another personality trait, but my over sensitivity is positive sometimes. Because I am so hyper sensitive to  what goes on around me, I am very empathetic, and very caring. I put my absolute heart into everything I do, and can easily put myself in someone else's shoes. I feel the emotions of others, and I feel like this makes me a great listener. Because my emotions are very extreme, when I feel positive emotions, I experience them at a much greater level! :)

I would love to see your Perfect Imperfections tags! I tag every single person who comes across this post. Leave a response below, or a link to your blog if you make a post!

Blogidays- My Christmas Wish List!

Hey pretties!
I'm still sick like I mentioned in my last post, but I still wanted to do Blogidays today!

I wanted to talk about my Christmas list this year! Gifts are actually last on my priorities for Christmas (hello, food! ) but I do always have a few things to ask for from my family. Here are a few things on my list this year!

~ The Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. I have wanted this for forever, but even when I do have the money, I am always hesitant to splash out so much for eyeshadow. However, upon doing the math, I realized that these shadows come out to less than $5 per shadow, and that's not too bad. I know of much poorer quality shadows that cost much more. I decided to ask for it for Christmas this year because I know I will use it ALOT!

~ A gift card to H&M. I feel like I need more clothes;)

~ The Naked 2 Palette. I have wanted this forever, and asked for this for several events. I am hoping Christmas this year is the year I recieve it! It is such a gorgeous palette, and I know I will use it to death!

~ The Bambi Let's Dream perfume. It is so girly, and let's face it, it is Disney. :)

~ Fuzzy Socks :) I own a few pairs, and I think I could use a few more :)

These are the bi things on my list, I also just want candy :p What is on YOUR list this year?

Blogidays- What Disney Means to Me

Hello, Hello!

Since last week would have been Walt Disney's birthday, and Saturday marks the anniversary of his passing, I wanted to do a special post in his memory, and explain to you all what Disney means to me, and how, without ever knowing it, Mr. Disney affected my life.

Who doesn't love Disney, right? I mean, what's not to love? The movies are timeless, the theme parks are amazing, it's a pretty awesome company! Most people like Disney. Alot of people love Disney. But Disney is so much more than a love for me. Disney is one of my passions in life. Disney, for me, goes so much deeper than loving the movies, etc. Disney is part of who I am. Disney represents all of the times in my life I have been the happiest, and Disney is my biggest source of inspiration in life.

I could try to put into words how Disney has forever changed my life, but I would never be able to capture just how much. I was always fascinated with Disney. As a child, the films were my favorites. When I grew a little older, Disney became my life. I studied Walt and the company. I became inspired by all that Walt Disney was and believed. I was inspired in every way, shape and form, and it changed my outlook on life.

I have such an emotional attachment to Disneyland, and all other aspects of Disney. The feeling of magic I experience upon entering the Disneyland Park is immeasurable. My dream is to someday, in someway, be apart of the magical company that is the Disney Company.

Walt, you have been the biggest inspiration of my life. You have taught me to have faith in my dreams, and that if I can dream it, I can most certainly do it. Thank you for the magic, and the lifelong memories. You have forever changed my life, and who I am, and for that I would never be able to thank you enough.

Today I wanted to share some winter date ideas. There are so many cute and fun things to do with your signifigant other (or friends) in the winter time! Here are a few of my favorites :

~ Make hot cocoa and watch holiday movies

~ If you have snow where you live, sledding ! I can't wait to go sledding with my hubby this year!

~ Coffee dates. This seems ordinary, but nothing like warm drinks in a cozy atmosphere for the perfect winter date! Make a pact to only order Holiday themed drinks:)

~Ice skating! You can always hold each other if you're like me, and not so talented at skating. :p

~ Find comfort-food recipies, and go shopping for the ingridients, and make it together! I love cooking new things with my husband, but I especially love it in the Winter when we can cook yummy pastas, soups, and other delicious comfort food :)

~ Find holiday crafts on Pintrest, and make a few! Pintrest has a TON of ideas, and you will get to see the artistic (or not so artistic) side of your partner :)

~ Go Christmas shopping together for your families, but make it interesting. Pick a theme for gifts, or set a budget and try to get the best (or funniest) things for your money!

~ Bake holiday treats together, then enjoy or give to friends !

These are some of my favorite activities to do with my husband in the winter-time. So fun and seasonally appropriate! What are some of your favorite winter dates?

Brushes on a Budget!

Hello Snowflakes!

Brushes are an essential part to anyone's makeup kit, but let's be real.. they can get REALLY expensive! To make things worse, you see these makeup collection videos on Youtube, and they have hundreds of brushes in their collections! How many brushes does  one girl need, and how does one aqquire them without going broke?? Don't worry, I have got ya covered ;)

First off, how many brushes do you need? I am a hoarder, and have mulitiples of everything, but one of each of the following would suffice:

~Complexion/Powder brush
~ Foundation Brush
~ Flat Shader brush
~Crease Brush (can double as blending brush)
~ Angled liner brush

So, contrary to populr belief, you don't HAVE to splash out alot on brushes. Several brands offer very affordable options. Here are my top 3 choices!

~ E.L.F. offers their normal line of brushes for just $1 each. These are not super quality, but they do function. Their Studio Line is much better quality, and each of those brushes is offered for just $3 a brush.

~ For those of you who are looking to get as many brushes as possible for your money, I got a fabulous brush set at Target. They are the Sonja Kashuk dual sided brushes. Each brush has a dual end, so they each function as 2 when you turn them over. The brushes are amazing quality, and I only paid $19.99 for the set!!

~Target's own brand also offers makeup brushes. I have seen them range from $2-6 depending on the purpose of the brush. I absolutely love these brushes! Excellent quality!

I hope some of you found this helpful, happy brush shopping!!

Product Review: Maybelline's Color Show Nail Polishes

Hello, and happy Saturday!
Did any of you go Black Friday shopping? I was wishing to be in the states yesterday just for the shopping! I will catch it next year, though!

Today, I really wanted to discuss a product that I was pleasently suprised by : The Maybelline Color Show nail polishes. I had read very mixed reviews on them, and noticed that they were super inexpensive at the store, so I was skeptical. I did pick up three of them to give them a go, and I love them!

The three shades I own are Wine Shimmer,Blue Ocean, and Lavender Lies. Now, these polishes do require more than one coat, however, once you have built up the color, they are stunning. They also have really long wear, mine didn't even begin to chip for over a week! The packaging is cute, and the price is a can't beat deal! They are sold here for 2.25 Euros each. These would make the perfect stocking stuffers or small gifts for friends! I am going to pick up Candy Apple Red next!

Do any of you own these polishes? How do you like them?

Review: The 30 Day Shred Program

Hello beautiful ones!

So yesterday, I had a little accomplishment...  I completed the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels!
I feel so, so good, and couldn't be happier with the results! I wanted to thouroughly review this program, and hopefully inspire some of you to give it a try!

What it is:

The 30 Day Shred is an exercise program designed by Jillian Michaels. The goal of the program is to get you "shredded" in 30 days time. It consists of three levels, each lasting ten days. Each workout is 20 minutes long ( a few minutes extra with warm up and cool down), and is set up in circuit training. There are three circuits per workout : 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute of abs. This program claims that you can lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days.

How I did it:

The program reccomends that you do not take any days off for resting. I followed this, and I feel like I got fit faster. I felt pretty sore at first, but it is your body trying to get used to the new workouts! I think your body adapts faster if you just push throught the soreness. I really enjoyed that the workout was only 20 minutes long, it was super easy to fit in to my sometimes hectic schedule! As far as diet, I already eat very clean and healthy due to my Celiac Disease, so there was not really any modifications. I did try to be more concious of portions, though. I lost ten pounds on this program, got toned, and I feel so much stronger and fitter now! I couldn't be happier, but I am also aware that this program is more of a kickstart to a better lifestyle, and I will need to continue to exercise to maintain results.

Here are the pros/ cons of the program:

Pros:
~Very short, is easy to fit into any schedule
~ Can be watched from Youtube, so it is free if you choose!
~ requires very little equipment. You only need 2-5 pound weights. I used 2, and it seemed too easy at times, but defintely provided enough resistance.
~ It isn't a super long term program
~ It offers beginner modifications for most of the exercises, so it's perfect for people new to exercise or with injuries.

Cons:
~ The specific diet plan is only available if you are a paid member of Jillian's website.

My tips if you try the program:

~ Don't skip days, even if you're sore. Pushing through it will cause your body to change faster.
~ Weigh yourself before you begin the program, but do not get on the scale for at least 2 weeks. I made this mistake of getting on the scale day 5, and was horrified to see that I gained 4 pounds! I later learned that this is because your muscles swell up and gain mass faster than fat goes away, but you will start noticing results shortly afterwards!
~ Don't deprive yourself, but do exercise portion control.

I would reccomend this program to anyone looking to get a good kickstart to a fit healthy lifestyle! It's easy and anyone can do it! If you have any questions, or want the youtube links to the videos, let me know! Happy Shredding :)

Healthy Living : My Disease, and Diet

Helllooooo!

So good to be back and blogging! I've had a crazy amount of stuff going on, and a huge chunk of that has been my health.

As I have talked about in a previous Healthy Living post, I am anemic, and have a low-functioning thyroid. But recently, my doctor diagnosed me with something that not only explains the anemia, it explains the past 10 years of my unsolved health mysteries. My diagnosis?

Celiac Disease.

For those of you who have never heard the term, it means that my body cannot process Gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. When I eat food containing Gluten, the villi in my intestines are damaged. Unfortunately, my villi are pretty destroyed. My doctor believes that the onset of my disease was about age 11. At age 21, that means that I have been destroying my stomach for 10 years, and the damage shows in my tests. This has not only affected my intestines, but my liver as well. The good news? My villi will repair themselves over time as long as I stick to a strict, gluten free diet. The bad news? I have to be on this diet for life, and EVERYTHING has gluten in it! Ugh!

Despite the challenge to find good, gluten-free foods, I feel amazing! I have truly never felt better, and I have lost 7 pounds in the  last 2 weeks. I have so much energy, I look healthy, and I haven't suffered any tummy aches( before my diagnosis, tummy aches were almost daily!).

I know many people go on Gluten-Free diets to aid in weight loss even when they don't suffer from Celiac or other Gluten Intolerances. I have never heard anything negative, people really do feel better! I would reccomend everyone to try it. So, now that I have explained Celiac, I am going to go over how to go Gluten Free the healthy way, and how a gluten free diet can aid in weight loss.

First, let's talk about how people gain weight, or have trouble losing on a Gluten-Free diet. When you see chips, breads, pastas, cookies, etc. labeled 'Gluten Free', most people's minds translate it into "healthier". Let me clear this up. Gluten Free does not mean 'calorie free', 'carbohydrate free', 'fat free', etc. In fact, most gluten free products have MORE carbs than the regular products do. "Gluten Free" is not a license to eat loads of carb-rich/ fatty foods. It's all about portion control! I reccommend reading labels and measuring food so you can have a clear idea of how much you are consuming. I also reccommend limiting carbohydrate-rich foods. Another thing to keep in mind for those of you who are actually Celiac patients: because your villi will be healing themselves, they will eventually be able to absorb more of the nutrients from the foods you consume. Without a good, monitered diet and exercise, this can cause weight gain. I'm not big on calorie counting, but it is a good idea to talk with your nutritionist (or find a trustworthy online calculator) to learn approximately how many calories you should be consuming, and try to stay at or under that limit daily. The easiest way to do this is with the use of a food journal.

Now, onto the weight loss/ being healthier tips when going gluten-free:
~ Use a food journal. Recording everything you eat not only helps keep you aware of calorie consumption, it gives you an idea of where you should increase/ cut back. If you can look back in the diary and see that most of your calories came from breads, and there weren't many veggies, you can be more concious of where those calories are coming from.

~ Make sure to get the majority of your calories from Fruits and Veggies. Fruits and veggies are naturally gluten free foods, and are high in fiber, hence, more filling. I have been eating fresh foods and eating little to no processed foods. I have lost 8 pounds in just 2 weeks.

I hope you found this information helpful! Are any of you on a gluten-free diet?

Fashion Issues - Counterfeit Merchandise

Hello, and Happy Monday!

Today, I want to take the time to address an issue that is a pretty big deal : counterfeit fashion and cosmetics.

It seems harmless, purchasing a bag with the Louis Vuitton logo for a super small fraction of the cost. But purchasing fake fashion merchandise and cosmetics is wrong, and harmful to you, the consumer, in the long run.

I have been swept up in the whole knock-off bag thing before. Having visited New York a few times, I did happen to enevtiably run into Canal Street, a.k.a. Counterfeit Central. My first time, I was 16, and thought it was marvelous that you could purchase a Coach handbag for $25. But with education and maturity, I retired my knockoffs to boxes in my garage. Here's why :

1. YOU the consumer pay taxes every year that are a result of the counterfeit business. Yep, the counterfeiting problem in the United States alone costs tax payers over $2 Billon per year. So while you are giving cold hard cash to the sketchy guy in a van on Canal street, you are paying taxes for this. Suddenly, that bag just got more expensive.

2. It is ethically wrong. They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but in the case of counterfeiting, this is NOT the case. Because knock-off items are not manufactured with nearly the same quality, it is an insult to the designer who spends so long designing high-quality, luxurious items. Sure you may idolize Marc Jacobs, but you are essentially disrespecting him buy purchasing a fake one of his bags, instead of perhaps saving for a while to purchase an authentic one. Saving and working hard for the authentic item would show more loyalty to the brand.

3. You look, well, ridiculous. Yes, most people who can afford real, authentic designer items can spot a fake from a mile away. Although nobody may directly say it to your face, you will get laughed at and judged. Buying couterfeits to show that you have more money than you do just makes you look desperate, and worse than if you were poor.

So now that you have an idea of WHY you shouldn't purchase these items, here are some ways to spot fakes so you don't purchase them on accident :

1. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Louis Vuitton will never sell a bag for $100, MAC will never sell a brush for $3. If it sounds like a dream deal, you'd be wasting your money.

2. Where you purchase the bag. The only way to guaruntee that you are purchasing a %100 authentic item is to purchase the item from the official website, one of the designers stores or outlets, or an authorized retailer (such as a department store). Never trust an online retailer like Ebay for designer items, and keep in mind that no designer will sell their merchandise in a sketchy warehouse or from the back of the van. If you have doubt about a retailer, contact the company first hand and ask if the seller is authorized.

3. Look for mistakes. Common tell tale signs of fakies are things like : mispelled logos, poor crafstmanship, imperfections such as things that aren't centered, cheap-feeling materials, cosmetics with odd features unlike authentic versions (i.e. extra compartment for sponge tip applicator for a "Mac Eyeshadow" is FAKE)

If you come across a fake retailer, gather as many details about it, and report it to the designer by mail or email. You can find information on their websites.

In closing, I know it's tempting. Most of us love the style and luxury of designer items, but often cannot afford the rather hefty price tag. That is simply the nature of the beast. My philosophy is that if you want it bad enough, you will work to get it. I can promise you that working hard and saving will be so rewarding when you have the item in your hand, a much better feeling than having a luxury item that you and your friends know isn't real. The truth is, counterfeiting is a serious issue that needs to be taken more seriously. You want to support fashion? Don't purchase these cheap items, and report those who sell. Honestly, a knockoff bag for $50 seems like a great deal, but you could get a nice bag that maybe isn't 'designer" for $50, rather than the cheaply made counterfeit.

I hope some of you found these tips helpful, or that you learned something!

Learn to Enjoy Your Job!

Hey Beauties!

Let's face it; not many of us who work can say that they love their job. Having worked various jobs since the age of 14, I can relate to dreading going to work. Although you may not yet have your dream job, there's no reason that you can't learn to enjoy the job you currently hold. Here are some tips to enjoy your job and be a better employee! This is  a little lengthy, so I hope you're snuggled in!

I know you. You get consumed with thoughts of "ughhh.... I don't want to work!" when the clock strikes time to leave. You think of a million other things you could be doing, and may or may not have pulled some ridiculous excuses to get out of working.

First things first, if you don't like your job, you need to have an honest look into the reason why.
Let me guess, you don't like work because your boss is a jerk, there's drama with the people you work with, customers are rude, you don't like your schedule, yada yada. Here are tips on how to deal:

1. You don't like work because of your boss. Try putting a new perspective on things. Your boss may be cranky, "unfair", etc, but have you ever considered why? Here's the thing, with greater power comes with greater responsibility. Yes, they may have a higher paying, "better" job, but they have to also put up with a LOT. Having been an assistant manager, I can say, it's hard to always be fair and please your crew. No matter how carefully you plan a good schedule, someone will have a problem. When someone calls in sick, you have to find a replacement, and when you can't YOU have to work. The manager deals with unhappy customers, and has a multitude of other responsibilities. So instead of constantly coming to your boss with issues, and looking at things negatively, give people a break. When you interact with your boss, always be kind and respectful, and try to be part of solutuions, not issues. If you have a scheduling issue, bring it up poilitely, and be willing to bend. You'd rather have a different shift Thursday? Offer to work on a different day, worka little longer, etc. When you are willing to work with people. they will often respond better.
    OR
Your boss doesn't like you. The answer to this is simple. If your boss seemingly has a problem with you, YOU could very likely be the cause. Let's be honest, you complain about how your boss doesn't care for you, but do you really perform to your best capability at work? Sure, you boss may not care for you because they are simply a negative nancy. If that's the case, that's their problem. But chances are, you will see improvement if you improve yourself and your work performance first.

2. There's drama with coworkers. No matter where you work, there will always be drama. Always. Some people will not get along with one another and may try to convince you to take sides. You are at work to do just that; WORK. You are not at work to be bffs with your colleagues. You will benefit immensely from remaining drama free at work. Mind your own business, and be nice to everyone. If someone at work says something nasty about you, or doesn't like you, take the high road. Continue to be nice to them, and don't worry about it. When someone tries to talk about another coworker, change the topic, or simply state that you don't want to discuss others.

3. You don't like the customers. Think about it like this : these customers, no matter how rude, are the reason you make a paycheck. Fake it until you make it and force yourself to smile and be nice.

4. Scheduling issues. In a perfect world, you'd never work on weekends, holidays, etc. Welcome to adult life. There are a few things you can do to earn yourself a more favorable schedule on occassion. If you're willing to bend, your boss will be, too. If you want an upcoming weekend off, consider volunteering to work the couple of weekends leading up to it. If something comes up, try switching with a coworker. Volunteer when people are ill. These are things most managers appreciate, and will be more than willing to reward you every once and a while/

Here are some other general tips to make you more successful at work:

1. Be on time. If you are rolling in just in the nick of time, or a few minutes late, you're setting yourself up for negativity. Firstly, no manager appreciates people who are late constantly, or barely making it. Second, when you're rushed, you will likely have a stressful day at work. I suggest leaving 5 minutes earlier than normal, or plan to show up 5-10 minutes early. When you are early, you can get yourself settled in, and take a deep breath.

2. Stop cutting corners, and ask questions. We all cut corners somehow. No matter how insignifigant they seem, stop. When you do your job thouroughly, you are allowing no room for complaints from others.

3. Take care of yourself. In all aspects. Make sure you have eaten before your shift, make sure you are rested, have a drink with you to keep hydrated, all necessary medications, etc. Make sure you are clean and presentable. It's easier to get through the day when you are well taken care of.

4. Never, ever, complain or discuss salary with other colleagues. This will backfire, I promise.

All in all, work isn't always fun, and we often wish we could be somewhere-anywhere else. All you can do is whistle while you work! I hope you found some of these tips helpful, and feel free to add any you have below!

Fall Shopping 101

Hello Lovlies!

Fall is here, which means NEW WARDROBE! SHOPPING! FABULOUS FALL FASHION! As exciting as it is, shopping can be a little daunting. While we would all love to have an unlimited budget, this is usually not the case. Here are some fall shopping tips that will help you make the most of what you have, the most of your spending money, and create the most looks!

1. Before you shop, assess your closet. We all go through the "I have nothing to wear" moods somedays, but it's important to honestly assess what you have. Pull every piece you own out, and try it on. Have a top you never wear because it doens't fit? Get rid of it! Try on all of your clothes to eliminate ones that don't fit. Have some fall appropriate clothing, but it feels old? When you're in the mood for something new, it's easy to feel the urge to shop. My advice is to take all of your pieces, and try to find at least 2 new ways to wear them. You may need a simple accessory to make somthing feel new, or you may find awesome new combos using things you have! Also, don't discriminate against your summer wardrobe! Maybe you can use some of the tops as layering pieces, and throw tights under your shorts so you don't freeze. Really make the most of what you've got.

2. Find your inspiration. After you have assessed your closet, decide on what you want and need to buy. Look on pintrest and in magazines for inspiration. It's better to get inspired and get an idea of what you're looking for, rather than just taking your money and heading out the door. Having an idea of what you want will eliminate impulse purchases and purchasing a bunch of things you don't totally love. Make a list of things you are looking for before heading out. It doesn't have to be a specific item from a specific store on your list, but write down the types of items you are looking for.

3. Make sure you have your bases covered. Before you start buying a bunch of quirky pieces that are difficult to match, make sure you have your basics. Some things I consider basics for fall are : dark wash, well fitting skinnies, leggings,  tights, comfortable/fairly practical boots, and a good jacket(i,e leather).

4. Shop around. My technique when I go out shopping is to browse shops, try on pieces that I like, and come back. I usually don't purchase the things I like in a store until I have browsed the store I want to that day. This is best because you may find similar pieces at other stores that are either a better deal, or you like more! Make a mental note of what you like at each place, then decide and go back to purchase.

5. Keep your reciepts, and be aware of return policies. I know, sounds obvious, but some of us figure we can return things with simply the tag, etc. While most retailers have similar policies, keep your reciepts, and familiarize yourself with each stores indiviual policy. I have known people who have purchased items without trying them on, and got them home to realize they didn't fit. To make matters worse, they couldn't return the item (sale items, etc). It's a good idea to try things on when you are there, or at least find out if it is returnable if you don't.

I hope you found these tips helpful! Do you have any tips that I missed?

Snuggle Sundays!

Hello, hello!
I want to start a series called Snuggle Sundays, where I can just catch up with you guys and share my week and things that inspired me, etc. I would love to see posts about your weeks as well!

This week was such a good one! I had such a positive attitude all week, and things ran smoothly.

I know some of you may not believe, but I started listening to podcasts by Joel Osteen, and I was reinspired by religion. Growing up, My mom was Catholic and my father wasn't religious. Despite being Catholic, my mother never attended church, and I had no real idea of God. When my parents divorced, my siblings, mother and I all moved closer to her family, her very Catholic family. All of the sudden, I was made to go to church every Sunday, and pray before meals when we were at grandma's. I was young, and church bored me, as did the fact my mother FORCED church upon me. I ended up resenting the church a little bit, and questioned if there was a God. Catholic church has always  seemed so judgemental to me. Anyways, I ran across Joel Osteen, and he has made religion something enjoyable for me. He really speaks in a way that I understand, and that inspires me. Never did I think I would see the day where I would be praying and listening to religious podcasts! I think I like it because I found it and enjoy it on my terms. Even if you don't believe in God, you should still give it a listen! Joel covers basic morals and good ways to live everyday life1

I have also been inspired to "clean" out my life. I enjoy doing spring cleaning, but I also do a "fall cleaning" yearly. For the next 4 weeks, I am really going to concentrate on eating healthy, taking car of my body, my mind, and my apartment. My goals are to drink plenty of water, drink green tea to detox( as inspire by Elle Fowler), exercise regularly, deep clean and organize my apartment, develop an overall positive attitude/environment for myself, and taking care of myself in the beauty department. Four weeks is perfect, because My Birthday is in exactly a month! I know New Year's may be far away, but I think of birthdays sort of like new years, it's a chance to live another year of your life right!

This week, expect updates, and fall shopping 101, enjoying your job, and an introduction to my new blog! I hope everyone has an awesome week!!!!

Recommendations/Suggestions?!

Hey Beauties,

I have been giving it quite a bit of thought lately, and I am very serious about starting my own youtube channel to go along with this blog. I depserately need your help, though!

I am not very good with technology, so I need a few recommendations for cameras and editing software. For a camera, I am looking for something that is easy to use, produces high quality, and has autofocus. I am not looking for the absolute most expensive camera out there, and any suggestions you have would be helpful! I want to choose a good camera from the begining so that I can provide my viewers with great quality from the first video!

As for an editing software, I am feeling a little lost. I have never used one, and wouldn't know where to begin. Again, I would like something that isn't too complicated to use, but allows me to really enhance my videos. I would appreciate any tips anyone has to offer! I would like to use voiceovers as well for some of my content, so some software that would let me do that easily!

Also, lighting tips would be helpful. Does natural light suffice, should I purchase additional lighting? If so, which kind?

Thanks for your help!

With fall coming up, this blog will come alive more and more. You see, I am passionate about the fall and winter seasons, and I will have so much content to provide you with. I love the fashion, makeup, I have tons of fashion, recipies, DIYS, etc planned! Please stay tuned! Please leave requests for anything pertaining to these two seasons, and I will keep them in mind! I am going to be doing some Halloween tutorials, so let me know what you would like to see!

Thank you for your support, it means everything!

May We Never Forget

Hey everyone,

Today, it is with a heavy heart that myself, and my fellow Americans remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

I was a mere 4th grader at the time, and I remember my mom driving to the gas station before I started school that day. She came back to the car after hearing the radio inside of the gas station, and said" the towers in New York were attacked". I didn't really understand just what that meant, but I knew it sounded serious. When I got to school, the teachers had the tvs on, everyone was in shock. I understood how serious this was when I saw a clip of the towers being attacked on the television. I remember how united we all felt afterwards.

My country has never been the same since the attacks. It has brought us into war, and increased  security everywhere.

Today I heard a song tribute to 9/11. It was the song "Heaven" slowed, and a small girl was talking throughout the song to her father who had lost his life that day. She was telling him how she had started kindergarten, and how much she missed him, and asked if it was true that he wasn't coming home. Naturally, I bawled my eyes out. It is so heartbreaking to think that because of the creul actions of a group of people, so many people lost their loved ones.

I would like to thank all of the troops, police officers, firefighters, medics, and rescue animals for everything they do for my country.

I have America and all of those affected by these tragic events in my prayers today. May god be with all of us today.

I am so beyond proud to be an American. I know that other countries sympathize with us on this day.

Remember everyone: Tomorrow is never promised. I hope each and every one of you remember to live in the moment, not just today, but everyday. Be kind to people, make ammends, and live life to the fullest, because you're never garunteed the next five minutes, and neither are your loved ones.

May we never forget.

Manda Likes!

Hello, and happy Tuesday!!

First off, I hope everyone had a great week! I haven't done a Manda Likes post in forever, and I want to update everyone on my favorite things I have been obsessed with lately!!

Beauty Likes:

Benefit's Eyeshadow in Pink Fancy

This color is a beautiful base and highlight color. I have been wearing it almost daily! It feels very nice on the eyes, and doesn't crease easily. It gives your eyes the perfect touch of sweetness!!

Mask Of Magnaminty from Lush

This is by far one of the best masks I have used! It is so refreshing, and solves just about any skin problem you might encounter! It is somewhat pricey, but honestly, the small jar will last you forever. I have had the small jar since May, and I really think that it is going to last through this month! I use this mask about twice a week, too. I really reccomend picking this up!

NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Color

After running out of my other three eye primers, I wanted to try something new, and more on the affordable side.  When I was in Douglas, I was browsing the NYX section from some lip glosses when I ran across this product. I decided I would give it a whirl! It does come in white, and another color (blanking), but Skin Tone looks the most natural to me. This has really made a difference in the wear of my eyeshadows, and it was really affordable at just 6.95 Euros.

Food Likes:

Kinder Suprise Eggs

One thing I adore about living in Europe is the CHOCOLATE! American chocolate just cannot compare. We literally have some of the finest, most exquisite tasting chocolate here. Kinder is one of my favorite brands. It is so creamy, and melts in your mouth. Kinder makes these Ueberashung (suprise) eggs. It is a hollow chocolate egg with a small yellow capsule inside. Inside of the capsule is a little toy. I have eaten more eggs recently than I would like to admit.. hehe;)

Feta Cheese

I have always loved Feta cheese, but recently, I have been putting it with everything! It is a very different tasting, strong sort of cheese, so this isn't for everyone, but I lalaLOVE it! I put it on salad all the time!

Activia Yogurts

I have been eating Activia daily for a few weeks now, and I am hooked. I know I am consuming a healthy snack, and it tastes SO GOOD! My favorite flavors are cherry and vanilla. I like to add organic granola and shaved almonds for more crunch and flavor!

Random Likes:

The Game of Life app for Ipod

Literally the best 99 cents I have spent in a very long time! I play this game constantly. This app has wonderful graphics, you can play alone or with friends, and offer several different languages! If you like this classic game from Hasbro, I recommend downloading this for hours of fun!

Organizing

I have been organizing the crap out of my life lately. I have been getting myself on track, and organizing has become a bit of an obsession :p

What are your current likes?

Diary: Fashion Investments,and New Series/blog!

Hello Lovlies:)

Today I wanted to do a little catching up. First, I had a really fun time doing Tag Week! I saw some of my tags get re-done, and had a blast reading them all! It was a good time, and I like doing posts that let you get to know me a little better, as well as getting to know you all better!

So, Fashion Investments. Just like practically every girl on the planet, I am always adding to my wardrobe, and always trying to get the most for my money. Unless you have recently won the lottery, I am sure cost plays a role in your fashion/ beauty purchases. But how many really good quality classic items do you actually own? With the fall season coming up, I am of course thinking about all of the new fashion purchases I will soon be making. But, I have also been inspired to start building a better quality wardrobe. I am going to start researching high-end, classic items that I want and start saving for them. Sure, for one pair of Louboutin's you could get a ton of clothes at let's say, Forever21, but those shoes will last you forever, and depending on the style, never go out of style. So basically my new goal is to invest more often than just thinking about quantity. I am not saying I  am going to stop shopping at H&M, Forever21, etc, and I am not saying those store don't offer high quality items. I am just going to invest more in closet staples. But, I am going to of course make this a series!!!

I am going to start sharing my research  with you and you can all help me shop for these items. I will also give reviews, and share shopping/investing tips. :)

Another new series or blog( haven't decided) is going to be a blog with both my husband and myself on newlywed life, and relationships in general. We are going to answer questions, share our stories, give advice, and hopefully make some new friends. We are both really excited! if anyone has any questions about relationships, marriage, couple issues, etc, please feel free to ask us! We will answer everyone!

I want to end with a quick apology, and ask for your patience. I am trying to keep up blogging as best as I can. I am adjusting to a new job, and schedule. I have been inconsistent the past few weeks because I am trying to juggle alot of new tasks! Please be patient while I figure out a posting schedule that allows me to post daily! Thank you:)

Product Review: Maybelline's Master Drama Kohl Liner and TAG WEEK!!

Hello, hello!
So today, I wanted to do a review on a new eyeliner of mine that I am LOVING, but before, I would like to announce to you all that this week, I will be doing nothing but tag posts all week! I will do at least one tag per day( if not more) and will be tagging some of my fave bloggers. etc. If you have any requests, be sure to comment below! But now, let's get into the review!

I purchased the Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Liner in Ultra Black about 3 weeks ago. I was in need of a new, good quality black liner for my wedding, and when I swatched this, it was LOVE.

Like it says, the liner is ULTRA BLACK, which was a score. Very opaque, and very dramatic! This liner is also super creamy, and glides like a complete dream! It is very long lasting, and doesn't smudge( trust me, I did the leg work, adn had this on my entire wedding day/night!)! This eyeliner is beautiful, and is by far my most favorite pencil liner! The only downside is, because of how creamy it is, I find myself needing to sharpen it after lining both eyes twice.

I hope you enjoyed this breif review, and I will see you tomorrow with the begining of tag week!

My Wedding Makeup!

Hey Beauties,

Today I wanted to share with you the tutorial that inspired my wedding makeup look, and share the products that I used! But first, a little backround:

I was having such a hard time choosing my wedding makeup look. The main reasons were A) I would be doing it myself, and B) I needed a look that would translate well. I searched hundreds of photos and tutorials looking for looks that fit my personality, the message I wanted to send, and something with in my capability level. As I mentioned in my Wedding Things post about makeup, it can be really tricky to find the right look. Alot of websites and professionals suggest minimal makeup because you "don't want to look like a whole other person", but if you're like me, I wouldn't look myself with bare minimal makeup on. I love playing up my eyes, so I wanted to find a look that was smokey, but not overdone. I wanted it to be bold enough to show up well on camera, but no racoon eyes! About 2 weeks before the wedding, I found this tutorial, and it was perfect:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx8cGodgONs&list=PL302355F434506208&index=23&feature=plpp_video

I did tweak it a little to match up to my personal preferences, and I did add some steps to ensure that the look would last long. Instead of the pink lipgloss that Laura uses here, I did a berry-pink-roseish lipstick. I also used setting spray to hold all of my face makeup, and used a dark brown pencil liner on my lower lashline. The products I used (including face) were:

Cliniques Superbalanced Makeup in Petal
UMA Cosmetics Face Powder in Light
UMA Cosmetics Blush in Romantic Rose
Biju Cosmetics Sun Powder (bronzer)
Rimmel London's Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer
Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter
Astor Cosmetics Concealer in Sand
NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Color
Benefit's Eyeshadow in Pink Fancy
MAC Matte Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown
Benefit's Eyeshdow in Posh Amethyst
Rimmel London's Kohl pencil in Panama
Maybelline's Master Drama Kohl Liner in Ultra Black
ELF Liquid Liner in Black
Maybelline's Falsies Mascara in Black Waterproof
ELF Makeup Setting Spray
Rimmel London's Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink

I used an assortment of brushes.

This look photographed beautifully, and was not way too overdone. It also held in place really well throughout the hot/ humid weather, kissing, and dancing. I think you could customize the lips to day or night, etc.

I hope you all enjoyed this look!!
